A Notable Event in November: Lucerne Piano Festival
October 29, 2016
Since November 1998, the Luzerne Piano Festival has drawn classical music enthusiasts from further and further afield, now establishing itself as one of the key global classical events showcasing the next virtuosos and up-and-coming stars. Over the duration of nine days (19-27 November), tomorrow’s renowned pianists will perform recitals, concerts and chamber music. There will also be off-stage events, with Jazz music in the evening throughout the city.
Several pianists you can look forward to hearing include: Georgy Tchaidze, who recently won the Top of the World Piano Competition in Tromsø (2015), Louis Schwizgebel, which the BBC has named New Generation Artist (2014, 2015) and young favourites Andrew Tyson, Kit Armstrong and Nareh Arghamanyan.
This is a splendid opportunity to savour one of Switzerland’s finest cities – sprawling with picturesque medieval architecture and nestled on a gorgeous lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
